Alcohol addiction - also called alcohol use disorder (AUD) - is a medical condition where a person becomes physically and mentally dependent on alcohol. It goes beyond casual drinking; addiction develops when alcohol use starts interfering with daily responsibilities, relationships, and overall health.
Strong cravings or urges to drink
Difficulty limiting or stopping alcohol use
Needing more alcohol to feel the same effects (tolerance)
Experiencing withdrawal symptoms such as shaking, sweating, or nausea when not drinking
Drinking in risky situations (such as before driving or at work)

Our on-site facility in Happy Valley is an intensive outpatient treatment center. We accept patients in our treatment program that are ambulatory and at levels of care 2.1 (9-20 weekly therapy hours) and 2.5 (20+ weekly therapy hours).
As an intensive outpatient facility, we proudly offer an alternative treatment program to the traditional inpatient treatment center model. Benefits of this updated therapy option are many.
The first is scheduling flexibility, as we schedule your sessions around your professional schedule as much as reasonable and possible. Patients also do not have to suffer total disruption of their lives in order to go to treatment. They do not have to take a leave of absence from work or leave loved ones at home alone.
Not only does this help with discretion and confidentiality, this also enables a smoother transition into a clean-and-sober lifestyle post-treatment since the patient’s environment (family and work life) has shifted gradually alongside the patient’s healing. Economically, outpatient treatment is much more cost-effective than residential care, which usually means that individuals can enjoy therapy for longer periods of time and in turn, this contributes to efficacy of treatment – patients are less likely to relapse with more support over a longer time period.

Alcohol use disorder often presents as part of a collection of challenges that includes addiction to other substances and/or mental health challenge(s).
Whatever conditions the patient has, we are here to help. Our professional staff is well-equipped to manage whatever conditions patients arrive with. Nothing is too complex, too complicated, too dire. Individual treatment plans will include a combination of psychotherapy, group therapy, in-depth behavioral therapy, and other modalities as appropriate to the individual to treat even the most difficult conditions. Alcohol dependence is treated with multiple types of treatment. The following modalities are used to some degree in our alcohol treatment programs.
The health care providers on staff here at Premiere Recovery Center draw from a range of suitable medications to assist the alcohol withdrawal process. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) explains that naltrexone is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and used to treat both alcohol use disorder (AUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD). For AUD, It works by binding to the endorphin receptors and blocking the effects of alcohol. It reduces alcohol cravings and makes drinking alcohol less attractive, helping patients maintain their sobriety. Naltrexone is commonly prescribed for AUD.
Our health care professionals always prescribe medication through the AUD detox process and for the first period of withdrawal, when the patient is experiencing strong alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
The first stage of breaking free from alcohol dependence is detoxification. The brain and body have become dependent upon the regular dose of alcohol, so when the individual stops drinking alcohol, the body is not happy. Alcohol detox can be mild or severe, depending on several factors. The patient is best served in either an inpatient or outpatient facility, where health care professionals can provide oversight.
Customized individual therapy is always an important element of our treatment programs. In one-on-one therapy sessions, the patient can receive personalized direction to move forward with the individual’s unique needs. Medication is also monitored partially through the individual therapy sessions.
In group therapy, patients work together, with the guidance of a therapist, to provide peer feedback and support. It is a kind of talk therapy.
Many group therapy sessions rely on cognitive behavioral therapy modalities, which seek to alter behavior by changing the patient’s thinking. These modalities have been shown to be quite effective at treating AUD and related complexities.
In group therapy sessions, contributing and listening, patients learn to recognize healthful and harmful thinking patterns that tend to lead to alcohol use.
When individuals present with alcohol dependence, a full physical is conducted to assess overall health. Alcohol dependence depletes the body’s stores of some essential vitamins, which need to be replenished. During severe alcohol detox, the patient needs medical oversight to ensure patient safety. Dietary habits may require adjusting. Throughout treatment, the patient is monitored to ensure optimal physical health.
Patients benefit from continuing to work on their sobriety through support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous.
The groups provide valuable peer support to all members who wish to participate.
We also provide family therapy options here in our facility. When a loved one is afflicted with AUD, family members can provide a great deal of support and assistance to help that individual maintain long-term sobriety.
We work with families to help them better understand the challenges of AUD and how best to provide support long term.
We are an outpatient treatment facility, but we also recognize that sometimes, individuals benefit from living in a quiet, spacious, clean-and-sober environment to support their healing during treatment.
We offer two homes, one in Pleasant Valley (women) and the other in Happy Valley (men), to our patients who would prefer to stay on-site. These are beautiful, luxury, upscale, quiet, safe, clean-and-sober homes with every comfort and amenity conceivable. Our goal is to offer all we can to help make your recovery journey a long-term success.
Transitional housing through Premiere Sober Living, an affiliated facility, is also an option for continued support. Many individuals benefit from the clean-and-sober environment as they transition into an alcohol-free lifestyle.
